Following the exposure of TREK’s new road bike, the Pinarello 2024 new Dogma and Canyon 2024 new Aeroad also made their debut at the 2024 Critérium du Dauphiné.
Let’s take a closer look at the Pinarello new Dogma 2024. At first glance, it’s hard to spot the differences between the new Pinarello Dogma and the old model. However, upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that the head tube of the Pinarello new Dogma 2024 is flatter, which better meets aerodynamic requirements. With the UCI relaxing certain rules, many models have redesigned their head tubes to optimize aerodynamic performance. The front fork of the Pinarello new Dogma 2024 is almost identical to the old model; we didn’t find any differences. Additionally, we noticed that the down tube near the head tube has been narrowed. We believe this is also to enhance aerodynamic performance. In terms of the bottle cage, Pinarello has designed an indentation in the down tube of the new Dogma at the bottle cage area, undoubtedly also for aerodynamic purposes. Most notably, we observed that the new Dogma has a straighter, thinner chainstay compared to the old model. SUMLON believes this indicates Pinarello’s increased confidence in the strength of their frame.
Another new road bike unveiled at the 2024 Critérium du Dauphiné is the Canyon 2024 new Aeroad. Similar to the Pinarello 2024 new Dogma, the Canyon 2024 new Aeroad has only made some small, almost imperceptible changes in detail. The lateral projection area of the head tube has become larger, just like the new Dogma. It seems the relaxation of the UCI restrictions has had a significant impact. Notably, the Canyon 2024 new Aeroad features the latest integrated handlebar, with the computer mount integrated into the stem. This design greatly facilitates the installation of computers, cameras, and lights. Additionally, the 2024 new Aeroad has widened the front fork. We noticed that the connection between the down tube and the bottom bracket shell is smaller than in the old Aeroad model. To some extent, these changes are also aimed at optimizing aerodynamic performance. Importantly, we know that the previous generation Aeroad had significant issues with the seat tube and seat post connection method. Clearly, Canyon recognized this problem and reverted to a more proven solution for the seat tube and seat post connection in the 2024 new Aeroad. SUMLON’s gonna say that this is a very good attempt.
